The many variations of white – Trend Analyst Nina Bruun presents the classic interior color in July’s Color Journal

Danish award-winning trend analyst Nina Bruun's monthly color collage is inspired by the interiors' safe choice, the color white. Her visual mood boards consist of interesting surfaces, completed with Tikkurila and Beckers color codes.

Color Journal No 5: White

"This month’s Color Journal represents something classical and yet crisp: The color white. White is so many things and I think that a lot of people don’t even realise just how many variations of the color there exist. A white with grey tones might compliment your furniture better than a bright white, so there are many ways to sophisticate and twist the classical white look. If you’re not into bright colors, painting the walls white creates the perfect canvas with room for different textures, details and bolder elements. Be playful in a harmless way by using white in different tones or shines on different surfaces to highlight details in the room - you’ll be surprised by the effect of matte white walls and super shiny door frames. So, even though we see a lot more colors in interior, white will never go out of style.”

Co-operation will continue throughout the year

Bruun, who runs her own consultancy, has previously worked with Tikkurila in the Color Now 2018 jury. This fruitful cooperation will continue in 2018 in the form of modern color journals that follow the latest trends.

"I love the idea that through my visual reports I will be able to share what I know about colors, trends and my personal sources of inspiration, in keeping with the latest developments."

The former design manager of Muuto, Bruun’s will now publish Trend reports both in her own Instragram account @nina_bruun with hashtag #tikkurilacolorjournal. At the end of the year, her mini reports will be combined into a full-year trend summary.
