Durable protection for wooden houses fast and easy with Tikkurila ProHouse method
Tikkurila Oyj, Press Release, October 6, 2010 at 9.00 am (CET+1)
Tikkurila wants to help its customers make sustainable choices. The company develops its operations continuously to be able to offer innovative and environmentally friendly products and services to different customer groups and markets. The Tikkurila ProHouse method, which is being launched today at the FinnBuild 2010 Fair, is an answer to the wishes of the building industry, sawmill industry and end users of wooden structures.
The ProHouse method utilizes waterborne Ultra products based on the latest technology in the paint industry. The core of the method comprises treatment with Ultra Pro, which gives protection to wooden surfaces in an industrial painting process whereby two layers of top coat are applied on exterior wooden panels and boards without a separate primer. Depending on the painting system used, a maintenance interval of 10 or 15 years can be achieved. For wood treated with the ProHouse method, Tikkurila promises the best quality and weather resistance on the market.
The idea of the ProHouse surface treatment is producing ready-to-use wooden materials to manufacturers of prefab houses, building companies and consumers. The best possible end result is achieved, when wooden panels and boards are painted in the factory under controlled and optimized conditions. When needed, the building may be overcoated on the construction site using either semi-matt Ultra house paint or matt Ultra Matt house paint.
As many as three work stages previosly done on the construction site can be replaced by using the ProHouse method: priming, primer coat and top coat. This will mean savings in working costs and also speed up both the planning and building processes.
There are many factors with adverse effects on exterior wooden surfaces: sunlight, temperature changes, humidity as well as various mechanical and biological stresses. Tikkurila's Ultra products, based on a polyacrylate binder, give the best possible protection during the construction phase. No harmful solvents are emitted during painting, and any excess panels or boards can be easily recycled.
While painting wooden materials in the factory, Tikkurila's extensive color range for exterior paints can be utilized, and Kaunis Talo color combinations can be used for exterior color design. Thanks to Tikkurila's sophisticated tinting technology, the specified color will be reproduced as desired on the wooden surface, and the color and the gloss will remain unchanged regardless of changing weather conditions.
